This past week, students and staff with the National Materials Reliability and Corrosion Lab (NCMRL) were welcomed to the musical city of Nashville, Tennessee for the 2025 Association for Materials Protection and Performance Conference and Expo. “Our team’s performance was excellent this year,” says Dr. Homero Castaneda-Lopez, lab supervisor and advisor to many of the NCMRL students. “Of course that is always the expectation, but that expectation was exceeded this year! We got many collaboration requests.”

NCMRL students and postdocs could be found at every corner of the conference from the symposium floor where PhD student Abdul Mannan presented his research on ionic liquid corrosion inhibition to the research-in-progress rooms where Reece Goldsberry, Ulises Martin Diaz, Atzin Ferrel, Ayush Raj, and Shaik Merkatur Hakim Marjuban discussed their work at the lab with the wider AMPP community. On the expo floor, master’s students Taratorn “Ken” Sattaraphan and Dongin “Donny” Lim as well as undergraduate students Seo Bae, Brooke Bond and Rebecca Crow were busy discussing their research posters with visitors to the floor.

The NCMRL would also like to extend a special congratulations to undergraduate student Rebecca Crow for being awarded the prestigious Melvin J. Schiff Scholarship awarded to one applicant on behalf of the So Cal AMPP Chapter and Schiff Associates.

We are excited to see the great work these students do next and be sure to visit with us next year at AMPP 2026, Houston TX!
