This Fall 2024, we were happy to watch four members of our team walk the stage at the winter graduation!
Congratulations to Dr. Alan Martinez, Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering

Alan Martinez received his B. Sc in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2019. He completed his M. Eng in Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University in 2021 before pursuing his Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Homero Castaneda. He was the previous Chief Student Leader of the NACE/AMPP student chapter and representative of the Materials Science & Engineering Graduate Student Advisory Council (MSEN-GSAC). He was also the recipient of the AMPP Rising Leader Award (2023) and participant in the Membership Leadership Development Program. In his spare time he likes to watch horror movies, go crawfish hunting, and socialize.
Congratulations to Abdul Mannan, Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering

Abdul Mannan holds a Master of Science in Materials Science and has worked as a Graduate Student Technician at the National Corrosion and Materials Reliability Center, CIR. In this role, he specialized in operating benchtop autoclaves, conducting Slow Strain Rate Tensile (SSRT) and High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT) tests, and performing chemical characterization of nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloys (CRAs). His research focused on utilizing Ionic liquids to achieve up to 98% corrosion inhibition efficiency on carbon steel alloys. Abdul is proficient in various electrochemical techniques and has significant experience working in supercritical environments, including H₂S-rich conditions.
Outside of his professional work, Abdul enjoys kayaking and has a strong interest in cars, with a particular admiration for the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.
Congratulations to Brooke Bond, Bachelors of Science in Materials Science and Engineering

Brooke just completed her final year as an undergraduate Materials Science and Engineering student. She is originally from Troup, TX and is currently the President of the TAMU AMPP Student Chapter. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her golden retriever, painting, and plane spotting.
Congratulations to Sonny Jaden Llave, Bachelors of Science in Materials Science and Engineering

Sonny Jaden Llave was just awarded his major in Materials Science and Engineering with a minor in both Computer Science and German. He specializes in work to support graduate projects, and has worked with both coating and pipelines.
